Dental BridgesAn Overview
Choosing a Dental Bridge
Choosing a type of dental restoration that will replace your missing teeth is an important decision. Dr. Sareen will help patients weigh their options so that they can make an informed decision. Your oral health, the number and location of missing teeth, your budget and cosmetic goals will all be considered when choosing the right missing tooth replacement option.
Traditional Dental Bridge
A traditional dental bridge is most commonly used to replace consecutively missing teeth. Bridges are cost-effective options for patients looking to restore the appearance of their smile. The dental bridge is custom designed to look like your natural teeth. Dr. Sareen uses high-quality dental porcelain that she color matches to your adjacent teeth for a seamless, beautiful smile.
Traditional dental bridges require two healthy and stable teeth to be filed down. These two teeth are used as anchors to hold the dental bridge in place. Most patients will require maintenance and repair of the anchor teeth at some point.
Implant Secured Dental Bridge
An implant secured dental bridge offers added stability and provides long-term results in comparison to the traditional bridge. Dental implants are surgically implanted into the jaw and used to anchor the dental bridge in place. Using the dental implants as anchors to secure the bridge, Dr. Sareen does not have to remove healthy tooth tissue, helping to support structural stability and oral health.

Dental Bridges What to Expect
Replacing missing teeth will stabilize your bite and prevent additional oral health complications. Dr. Sareen begins the process by conducting a thorough oral health exam. She examines the teeth, jaw, bite alignment, and bone retention. Once the exam is complete, you and Dr. Sareen will discuss viable options for replacing missing teeth. The dental bridge process will require a few trips to our Fairfax, VA dentist office.
Traditional Bridge- For patients who choose a traditional bridge, an appointment will be scheduled to prepare the anchor teeth for the bridge. Dr. Sareen offers sedation dentistry options to help patients remain calm and comfortable during this process.
Dr. Sareen will remove the appropriate amount of tooth enamel from the adjacent teeth. The teeth will be sanded down and prepared for the dental crown.
Implant Bridge- If patients choose to secure their dental bridge with dental implants, Dr. Sareen will schedule the surgical phase of treatment. All steps in the dental implant treatment plan are completed in-house from the comfort of our Fairfax, VA dentist office.
Once the implants are placed, patients are typically fitted with a temporary restoration while their implants heal. Dental implants take about 2-3 months to fully integrate with the jaw bone. Once healed, the final restoration will be secured to the dental implants.
Dental bridges are custom designed and fabricated to match your natural teeth. The bridge will be shaped and colored to blend seamlessly with your smile. Dr. Sareen and our dental care team use only the most modern dental materials for a lasting and durable result.
